Royal Building Products’ Pipe and Fittings plant in Shelby Township, Michigan, was named a 2016 “World Class Processor” by Plastics Technology magazine. Plastics Technology is a monthly trade publication that features technical and business information designed to improve plastics processing in North America. Its editorial content focuses on problem solving, tips and techniques, best practices, market opportunities and new technology in the plastics industry.
Twenty-five “World Class Processors” were selected for 2016 based on survey responses from Plastics Technology subscribers. Respondents ranked facilities in 11 different areas, ranging from operations and business performance to human resources and operational strategy. According to Brendan Caffrey, plant manager, adoption of industry best practices and leading-edge technology helped set the Shelby Township plant apart from others. “I believe our practice of measuring and sharing a variety of key performance indicators on a daily basis, as well as our use of robotics and scientific injection-molding monitoring equipment, capability to offer post-production assembly, and on-site tool shop for mold repair were among the reasons we were recognized as a ‘World Class Processor,’” said Brendan. “We are proud of our colleagues at the Shelby Township site for receiving this recognition,” said Renee Havrilla, vice president, Pipe and Fittings. “It is truly a testament to the good work they do every day.”
